Dia was born in an open source ambient, it is a totally free application, created to be employed on Linux operating systems. Itsi an application which soon found a great popularity, entering the typical Linux sets. Now it is also available an edition compatible with Windows operating systems.

Dia is a very flexible instrument which allows to create different kind of graphic effects. Just to remember the most popular ones we could think to the ERs, or to the ULMs or, moreover, to the diagrams to study the calculators’ nets.
Created on the bases of GTK+, and proposed on the GPL license, Dia was created following the cgaracteristics of the well known application called “Visio”, through GTK++ and GPL license. The graphic effects could be saved and exported in different extensions (XML, EPS) and clearly they could be also printed even when their sizes requires different paper sheets.
