FLAC is the acronym for “Free Lossless Audio Codec”. The word Lossless means that this codec will allow you to pass from the mp3 format without any loss of quality of the audio track. During this passage, in facts, FLAC doesn’t remove any data, just as it happens when you provide a compression with a Zip folder.

WinAmp integrates FLAC as a native plug-in, but if you have another player you only have to download the right plug-in. From one side you will find the the high-quality keeping is the main benefit of this application, but it has some limits. In facts in order to keep safe all the data, FLAC isn’t able to automatically reduce the file size as an ordinary converter. If an mp3 file is usually smaller the 90% of the original one, with this application you will have a rate of the 50%.

FLAC was release in English and its interface doesn’t offer a very large amount of features, so that it will be not so difficult to use this application.


The conversion could not be made starting from the original compact disc, you have to save the input file on the personal computer. In the download package you will also find a wizard application which will help you in the first steps, allowing you a passage from .wav or .ogg in FLAC.
