Last.fm is a player associated with a social music which, through the sharing of the information about your preferred artists and albums, allows you to discover all the music of your preferred genre so that you will always receive all the latest music news.
Anyone of us has its preferred music genre but, at the same time, it could happen that we’re going bored to always listen to the same music. That’s the reason why we want to suggest what could be defined social music: Last.fm. Thanks to this small-sized application you will be able to always upload your music database on your personal computer.
There are few operations to consider. First you have to register to this service (that is completely free) and then you have to type in the dedicated field the keyword to identify you preferred music genre (a style or the name of a singer). Then the application will create a list of songs similar to your preferred music genre. And in the end you only have to select it so that you could be able to immediately listen to it through the Last.fm channels.
Last.fm is based on a technology named scrobbling. The users that decide to register to it allow to Last.fm to detect all the files that you usually listen to. These files then are selected in categories by their genre and included in the listening channel. Doing that you will be able to listen to a kind of radio that broadcasts all the music you like, just because it is similar to your preferred music style.
Last.fm follow the logic of the sharing of the contents generated by the users of the typical internet new generation. Inside its website there is a very large amount of very interesting free features: the detection of other registered users with the same music interests, playlist creation, and even the possibility to add tags to songs and authors. Moreover you will find some features which allow you display what you are listen to while you are connected to Skype. The only real limit of this application is that you couldn’t save what you are listening to and that is necessary that you are connected to the web.
